I know this is an oldie, but I was just recently able to watch it.This movie, like most others, was adapted by a book of the same name, which was written by Jon Krakauer. It tells the story of Chris McCandless, a recent college graduate who donates all of his life savings ($24,000) and heads to Alaska to live off of the land. All that he takes with him are 10 pounds of rice, a .22 caliber rifle, a camera, several boxes of rifle rounds, and a small selection of reading material — including a field guide to the region's edible plants, Tana'ina Plantlore. The film was directed by Sean Penn and some of the music was done by Eddie Vedder. Its a very beautifully shot movie and I think it captures McCandless' experience very well. I don’t want to ruin the film for you, so just take my word for it, its an amazing film that deserves for you to see it at least just once.
